Thank you for your interest in becoming a Limestone County Master Gardener.  Basic information about the Master Gardener certification process is listed below.  If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us.  We’re always happy to answer any question you may have about the Master Gardener experience.

A thirteen week training course is required to become a Master Gardener.  Students may choose to participate in the spring or fall training.  The spring class meets during the morning hours and the fall class in the evening.  The cost of the course is $150 and includes an 18 chapter volunteer training handbook.  The next Tri-County Master Gardener Course is scheduled to begin on August 8, 2019 at 5 pm. 

Pre-registration deadline is August 1st.

Once the application form is filled out, take it, along with the registration fee of $150 to the Limestone County Extension Office located at 1109 W Market Street Athens, AL.  A background check is required.  Once approved, registration is official and the registrant will be notified.

After completing the course, each participant continues learning during a volunteer internship of an additional 50 hours.  Upon completion of the internship, individuals are recognized as a certified Alabama Master Gardeners.
